Blackstone Heights Water Tanks

For over 30 years, Pioneer Water Tanks have been a highly regarded Blackstone Heights water tank manufacturer and distributor.

Pioneer Water Tank owners in Blackstone Heights rest easy in the knowledge they have the support of Australia's primary big tank supplier.

Tasmania is often seen from the outside as a rainy green sanctuary all over, however, locals know better, and have their water supply requirements in mind.

Blackstone Heights is a rural locality in the Meander Valley area with a fraction of the locality in West Tamar, in the Launceston region.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Whilst most of Tasmania appears verdant and green, much like other parts of the country, many regions in Tasmania are afflicted by green drought, which leaves much of the greenery vulnerable to wildfires in the hot summer months.

An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to ensure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have sufficient water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wild fires.

A steel water tank can be used as both fire protection and water storage for the home, and Pioneer also offers a fire reserve option for your water tank if needed.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

The CSIRO performed bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in partnership with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition.

Importantly, unlike the other tanks-- which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could prove critical to firefighting efforts.

After a fire front has gone by, the water in your tank can still be used for non-consumptive applications, such as watering your gardens, however, it is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to ensure your water is safe before using it for food preparation or drinking.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Blackstone Heights climate

Blackstone Heights lies in an oceanic, temperate climate region, with four distinct seasons. The summers are warm, sunny and pleasant, and the three winter months are traditionally the wettest.

Blackstone Heights has an average annual rainfall of 610.8mm, and the soil in the area is greatly aided by Lake Trevallyn.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across rural Australia, rainfall is often a welcome sight, and Tasmania is certainly no different.

When steady rainfall builds up, this can result in flooding and storm water run off, which can cause damage to property and the environment, particularly in areas where man made infrastructure such as roads and footpaths cause the water to be unable to soak in to the soil.

If 100mm of rain fell on Blackstone Heights in just 24 hours, in order to keep 2 million litres of rainfall from entering stormwater systems, it would require just 100 homes armed with rainwater tanks and appropriate guttering.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

The Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the one and only antimicrobial tank liner available on the market today, and has been proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The natural antimicrobial properties of silver and Sanitized ® technology are woven into the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner.

The most scientifically advanced, cleanest and toughest liner available on the market, this is an industry leading product, made up of five distinct layers to protect and store your water.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile, also exclusive to Pioneer Water Tanks, has been developed with the sole purpose of water storage.

The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, in addition to protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

The design was deemed so good, in terms of structural integrity and aesthetic appeal, it won an Australian Design Award.

Australian made water tanks - Tasmanian local service

Pioneer Water Tanks has the ability to provide truly local service to all Australians, no matter where they are based, thanks to the Pioneer Dealer Direct Network, comprised of more than 50 experienced water tank dealers.

In Tasmania, our local dealer is Statewide Tanks, who we are proud to recommend to assist with all your water storage demands.

It is essential that our water tank dealers are specialists in water tank construction, as a water tank is only as good as the person who builds it.
