Bridport Water Tanks
Bridport is a small town on the north-east coast of Tasmania, located on Anderson Bay. It has beaches to support swimming, sailing and other water sports, and is located some 63km from Launceston.
For over thirty years, Pioneer Water Tanks have been a leading Bridport water tank manufacturer and distributor.
The backing and history of Australia's number one big tank company, means that people in Bridport can be satisfied with their water storage solutions.
Tasmania is often seen from the outside as a rainy green island all over, however, locals know better, and have their water supply demands in mind.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer
Bushfire preparation
Whilst most of Tasmania appears lush and green, much like other parts of the country, many regions in Tasmania are afflicted by green drought, which leaves much of the plant life vulnerable to wildfires in the hot summer months.
An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to make sure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have appropriate water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wildfires.
Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve in your tank, to ensure it can be used for both household water storage and fire protection.
Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions
When the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in conjunction with the CSIRO performed bushfire simulations on a range of water tanks, a steel Pioneer Water Tank stood up best.
After 30 minutes of submersion in flame, the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water, a crucial feature for firefighting efforts, while the other tanks tested either melted or cracked, causing their water to be partially or fully lost.
If your water tank has been exposed to fire, it is important to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to ensure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be suitable for purposes such as watering gardens or lawns.
An Ongoing Battle with the Elements
The Bridport climate
Bridport has its temperate oceanic climate to thank for its beautiful summers that make it a great tourist destination. Much of the 721mm of annual rainfall comes in the winter months, leaving the spring and summer attractive for outdoor activities.
This summer weather has led to Bridport thriving in the warmer months, with some estimates having the town's summer population as high as 5000, almost triple its regular population.
Rainwater run-off and flooding
In areas across rural Australia, rainfall is often a welcome sight, and Tasmania is certainly no different.
However; storms causing heavy rainfall in a short time period can result in storm water runoff, especially in areas with roads and footpaths preventing the water from soaking into the ground.
If a 24 hour time period saw a 100mm deposit of rainfall on Bridport, it would only require 100 homes with fitted water tanks and adequate guttering to keep 2 million litres of water from entering the environment.
