For over 30 years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been building and developing water tanks Dodges Ferry can trust.

The backing and history of Australia's leading big tank company, means that people in Dodges Ferry can be satisfied with their water storage solutions.

Tasmania is often seen from the outside as a rainy green region all over, however, locals know better, and have their water supply requirements in mind.

Dodges Ferry is a town in the south-east of Tasmania, about 13 kilometres south-east of Sorell, and 37km from Hobart.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Whilst most of Tasmania appears verdant and green, much like other parts of the country, many regions in Tasmania are afflicted by green drought, which leaves much of the vegetation vulnerable to wildfires in the hot summer months.

An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to ensure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have sufficient water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wildfires.

In order to ensure your water tank can be used for the purposes of both household or property water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

A Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition in bushfire simulation when testing was performed by the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in partnership with the CSIRO.

After 30 minutes of submersion in flame, the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water, a crucial feature for firefighting efforts, while the other tanks tested either melted or cracked, causing their water to be partially or fully lost.

If your water tank has been subjected to fire, it is essential to ensure that you get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure that it is safe for food preparation or drinking. The water would, however, still be suited for purposes such as watering gardens or lawns.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Dodges Ferry climate

Dodges Ferry has a mild temperate oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, cool and moist winters.

Dodges Ferry has an average annual rainfall of 490.6mm, with the majority of this rainfall in late spring and early summer.

Dodges Ferry has long been a popular holiday area for Tasmanians with a focus on water activities. With its reputation for beautiful beaches, safe swimming areas, fishing, boating and a popular surf beach Park beach, people flock to the area on warmer days.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across rural Australia, rainfall is often a welcome sight, and Tasmania is certainly no different.

However; stormwater run off brought on by heavy rainfall, particularly in areas with roads and footpaths, can lead to widespread flooding and damage by water that can't escape into the ecosystem.

If a 24 hour period saw a 100mm deposit of rainfall on Dodges Ferry, it would only entail 100 homes with fitted water tanks and appropriate guttering to keep 2 million litres of water from entering the environment.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

The Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the one and only antimicrobial tank liner available on the market today, and has been proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The Aqualiner Fresh ® utilises Sanitized ® technology, with the antibacterial properties of silver, interwoven into the water tank liner.

This is an industry leading product, comprised of five engineered layers, assembling to produce the most scientifically advanced, cleanest and strongest water tank liner available today.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile, also exclusive to Pioneer Water Tanks, has been designed with the sole purpose of water storage.

This V-Lock panel profile is designed not only for strength and durability of the tank wall itself by engineering the sheets to the ideal thickness for each panel, but also to protect the tank liner, preventing stretching and wear as the tank fills and empties.

It's a design so good, it won an Australian Design Award for the exceptional strength and internal support, along with its aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Australian made water tanks - Tasmanian local service

Comprised of more than 50 local water tank dealers across the country, Pioneer's Dealer Direct Network means that we can provide truly local service to all Australians.

In Tasmania, our local dealer is Statewide Tanks, who we are proud to recommend to assist with all your water storage demands.

We ensure that our dealers are of the best quality, as we understand that a water tank is only as good as the person who builds it.
