Evandale Water Tanks

Evandale is an historic town in northern Tasmania, Australia. It sits on the banks of the South Esk River, 18 km south of Launceston, and just 8km from Perth.

For over 30 years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been building and developing water tanks Evandale can trust.

Pioneer Water Tank owners in Evandale rest easy in the knowledge they have the support of Australia's number one big tank supplier.

Despite the outside view that Tasmania is a lush and rainy state all over, people of Tasmania know better, and are mindful of their water storage needs.

Water Tanks to Suit Every Need

Water Tank Sizes

With rural and domestic tanks between 12kl and 500kl, alongside industrial and commercial tanks up to a tremendous 3 million or more litres, Pioneer Water Tanks offers a wide range of water tank sizes.

Regardless of your water storage needs, Pioneer Water Tanks has the water tank that is best for you, in both size and toughness.

Water Tank Colours

Every Pioneer Water Tank installed in Australia is made from Australian made and sourced BlueScope Steel, and manufactured in the Australian Pioneer Water Tanks facility. Pioneer Water Tanks are available in either a standard Zincalume ® finish, or in the full range of Colorbond ® colours seen below.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Thanks to prevalent green drought, much of Tasmania is vulnerable to wildfires, due to dry soil and weak vegetation, despite the grassy and lush aesthetics of much of the state.

An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to ensure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have appropriate water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wild fires.

In order to ensure your water tank can be used for the purposes of both residential water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

The CSIRO carried out bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in collaboration with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition.

All other tanks tested either melted or split, causing them to lose valuable water, however the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water after being subjected to the full 30 minute fire front, which could prove crucial to fire fighting efforts.

After a fire front has passed, the water in your tank can still be used for non-consumptive purposes, such as watering your gardens, however, it is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to ensure your water is safe before using it for food preparation or drinking.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Evandale climate

Evandale is home to a temperate, oceanic climate, with long warm summer days, and cool short winter days.

Evandale averages 627.9mm of rainfall annually, and whilst the majority of this falls in the winter months, the town sees rainfall year round.

Due to its location to running water, and rich soil, Evandale was initially rushed to by farmers looking to make some money, and outlaws looking to take that money. In recent years, Evandale has become a commuter town for Launceston.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across Australia, especially rural and regional areas effected by drought, rainfall is usually a very welcomed sight, and Tasmania is no outlier in this fact.

When consistent rainfall builds up, this can lead to flooding and storm water run off, which can cause damage to property and the environment, particularly in areas where man made facilities such as roads and footpaths cause the water to be unable to soak in to the soil.

If 100mm of rain fell on Evandale in just 24 hours, in order to keep 2 million litres of rainfall from entering stormwater systems, it would require just 100 homes fitted with rainwater tanks and appropriate guttering.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

A Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner on the market, proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The natural antimicrobial properties of silver and Sanitized ® technology are woven into the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner.

This industry leading water tank liner is comprised of five layers that make up the strongest, cleanest and most technologically advanced water tank liner on the market.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile, also exclusive to Pioneer Water Tanks, has been created with the sole purpose of water storage.

The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, in addition to protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

It's a design so good, it won an Australian Design Award for the exceptional strength and internal support, together with its aesthetically pleasing appearance.
