George Town Water Tanks

George Town is a large town in north-east Tasmania, on the eastern bank of the mouth of the Tamar River, and located almost exactly 50km from Launceston. The area now occupied by George Town has been inhabited by Aboriginal Tasmanians since  at least 5000 BC, and possibly as long ago as 40000 BC.

For over 30 years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been manufacturing and developing water tanks George Town can rely on.

The backing and history of Australia's number one big tank company, means that people in George Town can be satisfied with their water storage solutions.

Although much of the mainland hold the belief that Tasmania is a verdant land of plentiful rains, people in Tasmania know better, and are mindful of their water storage needs.

Water Tanks to Suit Every Need

Water Tank Sizes

Pioneer Water Tanks offer a range of water tank sizes, from 12kL to 500kL for our range of rural and residential tanks, and up to a whopping 3 million litres or more for our industrial and commercial water tanks.

No matter what project you are about to embark on, Pioneer Water Tanks will have a water tank that's right of you in size and in quality.

The Litres/Gallons stated above are gross capacities. Actual useable volume will vary depending on the size and position of inlets and outlets

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Despite being a stunning and green part of the country, many parts of Tasmania are plagued by green drought, which means in the hot, dry summer months, vegetation is dry and vulnerable to wildfires.

As well as having a bushfire action plan, an important way to be prepared for the dry summer months is to ensure that you have adequate water storage to help protect you from the threat of fire, and a Pioneer Water Tank helps deliver that protection.

Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve in your tank, to ensure it can be used for both household water storage and fire protection.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

The CSIRO performed bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in partnership with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition.

Importantly, unlike the other tanks-- which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could prove critical to firefighting efforts.

While a water tank will still prove appropriate for watering backyards or lawns, if it has been subjected to fire, it is highly recommended that you get the tank water tested as soon as possible to ensure that it is still safe for household use.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The George Town climate

The George Town climate is temperate and oceanic, with the months from January to March typically being sunny and warm, and June to August delivering most of its rain, with four distinct seasons.

The climate in the area have led to George Town becoming a reliable rural hub for cattle and sheep grazing, which along with manufacturing and transport, are the leading economies in the area.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across rural Australia, rainfall is often a welcome sight, and Tasmania is certainly no different.

However; storms causing heavy rainfall in a short time period can trigger storm water runoff, especially in areas with roads and footpaths preventing the water from soaking into the soil.

If a 24 hour time period saw a 100mm deposit of rainfall on George Town, it would only entail 100 homes with fitted water tanks and sufficient guttering to keep 2 million litres of water from entering the environment.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

A Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner on the market, proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The natural antimicrobial properties of silver and Sanitized ® technology are woven into the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner.

This is an industry leading product, comprised of five engineered layers, assembling to produce the most scientifically advanced, cleanest and strongest water tank liner available today.

Developed for durability and for the sole purpose of water storage, the Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile is also a Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive.

The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, as well as protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

It's a design so good, it won an Australian Design Award for the unrivalled strength and internal support, along with its aesthetically pleasing appearance.
