Midway Point  Water Tanks

Midway Point is a residential locality in the South-east region of Tasmania.  In recent years Midway Point has become a popular commuter town for people working in Hobart.

Pioneer Water Tanks have been the best Midway Point water tank supplier and manufacturer for more than thirty years.

Pioneer Water Tank owners in Midway Point rest easy in the knowledge they have the support of Australia's primary big tank manufacturer.

Tasmania is often seen from the outside as a rainy green region all over, however, locals know better, and have their water supply demands in mind.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer

Bushfire preparation

Thanks to widespread green drought, much of Tasmania is susceptible to wildfires, due to dry soil and weak vegetation, despite the grassy and lush appearance of much of the state.

It is important in any rural setting to ensure that you are doing the most you can to protect yourself from bushfire. You can do this by making sure that you have a bushfire action plan, along with adequate water storage for fire fighting purposes.

So as to ensure your water tank can be used for the purposes of both residential water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.

Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions

The CSIRO carried out bushfire simulation tests on water tanks in partnership with the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC, and the results showed that a steel Pioneer Water Tank held up better than the competition.

Importantly, unlike the other tanks-- which either melted or split - the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water even after a fire front, which could prove critical to firefighting efforts.

After a fire front has passed, the water in your tank can still be used for non-consumptive purposes, like watering your gardens, having said that, it is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure your water is safe before using it for food preparation or drinking.

An Ongoing Battle with the Elements

The Midway Point climate

Midway Point has a mild temperate oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, cool and moist winters.

The Midway Point area has an average annual rainfall of just over 550mm, with the majority of this rainfall in late spring and early summer.

Rainwater run-off and flooding

In areas across Australia, especially rural and regional areas effected by drought, rainfall is usually a very welcome sight, and Tasmania is no outlier in this fact.

When steady rainfall builds up, this can result in flooding and storm water run off, which can cause damage to property and the environment, particularly in areas where man made facilities such as roads and footpaths cause the water to be unable to soak in to the soil.

If Midway Point received 100mm of rain in a 24 hour downpour, it would require just 100 homes to have water tanks to keep 2 million litres of water from entering stormwater systems and contributing to stormwater runoff and flooding damages.

The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference

Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner

A Pioneer Water Tanks exclusive, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner on the market, proven to prevent the growth of algae and bacteria in your water tank.

The Aqualiner Fresh ® utilises Sanitized ® technology, with the antibacterial properties of silver, interwoven into the water tank liner.

This is an industry leading product, made up of five engineered layers, assembling to produce the most technologically advanced, cleanest and strongest water tank liner available today.

Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile

The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile has been engineered for durability, and created with the sole purpose of water storage in mind.

The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, in addition to protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.

It's a design so good, it won an Australian Design Award for the superior strength and internal support, together with its aesthetically pleasing appearance.

Australian made water tanks - Tasmanian local service

Made up of more than fifty local water tank dealers across the country, Pioneer's Dealer Direct Network means that we can provide truly local service to all Australians.

Pioneer Water Tanks is proud to work with Statewide Tanks in Tasmania, a qualified tank installer who are able to assist with all your water storage demands.
