Snug Water Tanks
Snug is a small coastal town on the Channel Highway located just 11 kilometres to the south of Kingston.
For over thirty years now, Pioneer Water Tanks have been building and designing water tanks Snug can depend on.
Pioneer Water Tank owners in Snug rest easy in the knowledge they have the support of Australia's number one big tank supplier.
Even though much of the mainland hold the belief that Tasmania is a verdant land of plentiful rains, people in Tasmania know better, and are mindful of their water storage needs.
Water Tanks to Suit Every Need
Water Tank Sizes
Pioneer's water tank sizes come in a wide range, with domestic and rural tanks available from 12kl to 500kl, and the commercial and industrial tanks available in up to a whopping 3 million litres.
No matter your water storage needs, Pioneer Water Tanks has the water tank that is best for you, in both size and durability.
The Litres/Gallons stated above are gross capacities. Actual useable volume will vary depending on the size and position of inlets and outlets
Water Tank Colours
Every Pioneer Water Tank assembled in Australia is made from Australian made and sourced BlueScope Steel, and manufactured in the Australian Pioneer Water Tanks facility. Pioneer Water Tanks are available in either a standard Zincalume ® finish, or in the full range of Colorbond ® colours seen below.

Bushfire Protection in the Australian Summer
Bushfire preparation
Thanks to prevalent green drought, much of Tasmania is vulnerable to wildfires, thanks to dry soil and weak vegetation, despite the grassy and lush aesthetics of much of the state.
An important way to prepare for the drier summer months is to make sure that you not only have a bushfire action plan, but also that you have sufficient water storage to help you and emergency services protect against the threat of wild fires.
So as to ensure your water tank can be used for the purposes of both residential water storage, and fire protection, Pioneer Water Tanks offers the option of a fire reserve.
Outperforming all comers in bushfire conditions
A Pioneer Water Tank performed better than the competition in bushfire simulation when testing was done by the Bushfire and National Hazards CRC in collaboration with the CSIRO.
All other tanks tested either melted or split, causing them to lose precious water, however the Pioneer Water Tank continued to hold water after being subjected to the full 30 minute fire front, which could prove critical to fire fighting efforts.
After a fire front has passed, the water in your tank can still be used for non-consumptive applications, such as watering your gardens, however, it is highly recommended to get your water tested as soon as possible to make sure your water is safe before using it for food preparation or drinking.
An Ongoing Battle with the Elements
The Snug climate
Thanks to its coastal location, Snug has a cool temperate oceanic climate, with mild to warm summers, and cool damp winters.
Snug sees an average yearly rainfall of 723.0mm, with steady rainfall year round.
Once a centre for fruit growing and timber cutting, the town of Snug has become urbanised in the last few decades.
Rainwater run-off and flooding
Rain is appreciated in rural areas all across Australia, especially those enduring drought conditions, and Tasmania is surely no different.
When steady rainfall builds up, this can lead to flooding and storm water run off, which can cause damage to property and the environment, particularly in areas where man made infrastructure such as roads and footpaths cause the water to be unable to soak in to the ground.
If 100mm of rain fell on Snug in just 24 hours, in order to prevent 2 million litres of rainfall from entering stormwater systems, it would require just 100 homes fitted with rainwater tanks and appropriate guttering.
The Pioneer Water Tanks Difference
Aqualiner Fresh® antimicrobial water tank liner
Proven to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria in your water tank, the Aqualiner Fresh ® water tank liner is the only antimicrobial water tank liner available on the market, and a Pioneer Water tanks exclusive.
The Aqualiner Fresh ® utilises Sanitized ® technology, with the antibacterial properties of silver, interwoven into the water tank liner.
This is an industry leading product, comprised of five engineered layers, assembling to produce the most technologically advanced, cleanest and strongest water tank liner available today.
Pioneer V-Lock® tank wall profile
The Pioneer V-Lock ® tank wall profile has been engineered for durability, and created with the sole purpose of water storage in mind.
The V-Lock wall profile is designed to put the steel where it is needed most, for the optimal strength and support, as well as protecting the tank liner, not just from external debris, but also against stretching or warping from the tank filling and emptying.
Don't just take our word for it, the design is so sound, it won an Australian Design Award for its strength and visual appeal.
Australian made water tanks - Tasmanian local service
Pioneer Water Tanks Dealer Direct Network is comprised of over 50 water tank dealers across the country, meaning we can provide truly local service to all Australians.
In Tasmania, we are proud to be partnered with Statewide Tanks, who are able to assist with all your water storage demands.
It is crucial that our water tank dealers are professionals in water tank construction, as a water tank is only as good as the person who builds it.
Snug Local Knowledge
Snug fun fact
Following the establishment of a colony at Hobart Town, the Snug River was found and named reflecting the "snug and agreeable seclusion" of the inlet, and around the 1840s and 1850s, a small settlement was established at Snug itself.
